Guida de Supervivencia
Reflection
Within the pages of this project we make up a guide in hope to help a foreign traveler feel a home in a confused, new language speaking environment. To start out we had to conduct a lot of research in order to build our background knowledge, in which we could use on our survival guide to help new travelers. Picking a country with many activities I enjoy and places I want to go made this project helpful and very useful. The skit proved to be the hardest part, speaking spanish does not come to me very easily at this stage in my Spanish speaking. My partner and I did not pick the most entertaining setting for your skit which did not make getting a good grade easy. Our skit as it was preformed was better then all of the previous rounds we did, I was also very happy and glad we got to do it. Overall I had a great time through the process of this project.
This survival guide proved to be very useful as I have always wanted to visit Chile and I will keep this in handy if I ever find myself in route to Chile, as I gaze at the large magical Moai statues. Just as much as these great faces activities such as skiing and surfing bring the country of Chile to my direct attention. I have gotten to learn about many of these activities through all of the research I have done on this country through this project. I learned through this project that I will most likely find myself in Chile hopefully using this useful survival guide.
This project was a good base for any foreign trip planning. I showed me the use of all of the different fields you need to cover when you go to a new place. It also made me realize how much more seriously I need to take my spanish speaking if I want to go to another latin speaking country. This project excites my interest for all of the activities I love so much and could pursue in a country like Chile. These are activities such as skiing and surfing which I hope I find myself pursuing in the coastline of Chile some day.

El Periodismo Project Reflection
Our latest project in Spanish consisted of a group project. We were split into different groups each of them consisted of four students. Each different group was then assigned a product that they had to make; this could be a newspaper, magazine, or a video. This product included many different topics, from many different countries. My group decided to make a newspaper, which talked about different events in Chile. The article that I wrote was about a ski race. Not any ordinary ski race, this race was down a volcano trying to get the bottom as fast as possible.
I really liked the freedom that he had during this project. I had the ability to choose basically any topic we wanted. I was excited to find an event that really interested me, this was easily achieved as my country was Chile. The most exciting moment for me through out this project was the moment that I found a unique ski event that really interested me, this made writing my article a fun experience.
I am still working on my Spanish writing skills. This was my biggest difficulty while writing my article. This is the biggest difficulty that I have in Spanish with all of my projects. Although since my article was about skiing I knew more vocab then any other subject that I could of wrote about. I had the persevere through the struggle of constructing sentences.
As I wrote this article one thing that I learned about myself is that I would really like to attend this unique event some point in my life. From the ski race to the culture of why it even happens, all of it inspires me to be apart of it. As for my Spanish I learned that I need the most improvement with my sentences and conjugating skills. It was also hard to work as a team on the newspaper as for we were all in different spots which made it hard to get in all into one document and turned in on time.
Through this project I learned more then just Spanish. I imagine myself at this event, I imagine all of the people that I would meet and all of the new Spanish speaking skills that I would gain by a first hand experience like this. If it were not for this project I would not know anywhere as much as I do now about this project, I’m glad I got to learn more about a Spanish speaking country.

Dia de los muertos
In society today many of us are scared of death, and many times even scared to even talk about or think of death. Why should we be scared? Many people in Mexico celebrate the lives who have passed, this is called the Day of the Dead celebration. It lasts for a couple days, each a day celebrating different aged souls that have been lost. In Spanish 2 we have been learning about the origins of this beautiful celebration. After we gained a better understanding of this event we got to pick a family member that we would like to celebrate in memory of. I picked my abuela (grandmother) Jane Thomas.

REFLEXION
The biggest thing that I learned from Dia de los Muertos was that we should not be sad or scared of death, instead we should celebrate the memories we have of these loved ones. Our class altar was beautiful, made out of what we had, cardboard boxes and blankets, it actually turned out awesome and it was very cool to see everyones contributions to this altar. Since there was about 50 different peoples belongings on this altar it was cool to see how different each and everyones loved ones were. Not to mention the food was unbelievably good and the candles created a calming and relaxed scent. Overall, I am proud of all of my contributions of this project, my writing piece was challenging but I believe I did a good job of writing an overview of my grandmas life. As for my visual piece I did a good job of incorporating the day of the dead and the things my grandma loved into one, as well as a statement that very much describes her. Although I would of made a sculpture if I could do this again. The most difficult part for me was conjugating my verbs in the past and present correctly.
